Starting Monday, September 18, the El Paso Field Operations Office of the United States Customs and Border Protection will temporarily suspend cargo processing at the port of entry known as BOTA.

She reiterated that the reason for this closure is the large flow of migrants that reaches the border, without control by the Government of the republic, which has the powers to address this matter.

“We understand the pressures to which the US authorities are subject due to what is happening in the border area, but Chihuahua is an active partner of the United States, which is why we are urging the Mexican Federal Government to resolve these cross-border issues,” Maru added.

She announced that since this Friday she had communication with Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena and requested in writing from the Secretary of the Interior, Luisa María Alcalde, a prompt solution from the authorities empowered to provide cross-border and transnational solutions and execute actions immediately.

“We will insist together that the Federal Government, which has the powers, resolve this matter as soon as possible, the opening of the crossing for commercial activities and its cause: definitive attention to the migratory flow,” she noted.
