Morenista Julio César Chávez Padilla is on the run after being accused of co-authoring the murder of Raúl Calderón Samaniego, bassist of “Los románticos de Zacatecas”

The Congress of the state of Zacatecas approved this Friday to challenge the mayor of the municipality of Guadalupe, the morenista Julio César Chávez Padilla, for his possible relationship with the murder of the musician Raúl Calderón Samaniego, bassist of the group Los Románticos de Zacatecas and who was also a cousin Jorge Álvarez Máynez, federal deputy of the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC).

After three days of being included in the agenda without being voted on, the local deputies unanimously endorsed withdrawing the jurisdiction of the mayor to be investigated for the crime.

And it is that a few days ago the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Zacatecas (FGJEZ) issued an arrest warrant against Chávez Padilla for the crimes of qualified homicide and robbery, for which reason it asked Congress for the Declaration of Origin with Removal of the Constitutional jurisdiction.

Although the state governor, the Morenista David Monreal, has not issued a position on this case either, the new Secretary General of the Government, Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza, through a short video on institutional social networks, issued a position on behalf of the Executive state, where it states that the government “will be respectful of the autonomy of the Legislative and Judicial Powers, as well as the Zacatecas Attorney General’s Office,” in addition to pronouncing that “the case be resolved judicially in accordance with the principle of presumption of innocence and with full respect for due process.

It is worth mentioning that Chávez Padilla stopped going to the Guadalupe City Hall on April 13. However, on April 19, he assured through a statement that he would appear before the authorities, but because it is his responsibility and not because he accepted guilt.

He added that he will make the pertinent clarifications and contributions of evidence before the corresponding instances to maintain the evidence of his innocence.

“There is nothing certain (remarks), so I will make it clear to society the veracity of my words, backed by the evidence of my actions”

“I may not be the first innocent to be accused of something I did not commit, but I understand more my responsibility to face it and follow the example of facing once again the adversities of the powers that be that we have bothered in recent years for supporting whoever else requires it and no longer allow the enrichment of a few”, the statement read.

On April 20, Gamón Rodríguez, the mayor’s lawyer, reported that both Chávez Padilla and his wife were in Zacatecas.

The 37-year-old bassist for Los Románticos de Zacatecas was reported missing on December 31, 2022.

Through social networks, his family reported that the lawyer also disappeared when he was traveling from Jerez to the city of Zacatecas.

On January 2 of this year, Armida Calderón, the singer’s sister, announced that the lifeless body of Calderón Samaniego had already been located. A day later, the FGJEZ ruled on the case and through a press release, it was reported that the young man was found lifeless inside his apartment.

“After the execution of a judicial search warrant, the place was processed and his body was transferred to the Legal Medicine area for the necropsy protocol, which showed injuries caused by a firearm as a result of the cause of death. ”

The investigations continued and on Monday, April 17, it was announced that at least two arrest warrants had been issued against the alleged perpetrators, one of which was issued against the mayor of Guadalupe.
