A group of 20 mobile homes with around 40 people of American and Canadian origin arrived at Las Glorias beach, in the municipality of Guasave in northern Sinaloa, less than two weeks after the violent acts caused by the arrest of Ovidio Guzmán and they say, They feel completely safe traveling around the country and the state, as they have found warmth in the people, beautiful beaches and very good food.
They recommended to their compatriots not to be guided by the reputation of the state.
The foreign tourists entered Mexican territory last December as part of a caravan of motorhomes visiting tourist spots in Sonora, such as San Carlos and Huatabampito, where they were before arriving this week in Sinaloan territory.
Danna and Wil noted that they have been visiting Mexico for a couple of years now.
Martín is of Canadian origin and pointed out that, although many things are said about Mexico, the reality is that it is safe to travel, also that in their countries they are no strangers to insecurity or violence, so “they do not have to be scared”.
“My wife and I do feel good about our experience traveling here to Mexico and if we are well, there are always these uncertainties that something can happen, but it also happens in Canada in some places,” he commented.
For their part, Danna and Wil pointed out that they have been visiting Mexico for a couple of years, so they recommended their compatriots not to be guided by the reputation of the state and to come and visit it, since they have very good experiences.
“Yes, I think so (they feel safe) there are many beautiful places, a lot of culture, many beautiful people and I think so, I do recommend it. We don’t feel very well, we have been to different places here in Mexico and we feel excellent. We like Sinaloa and this place, the people, the beach, the food, very good,” he concluded.
Gustavo Miguel, a hotel, and tourist businessman who received this caravan at his hotel, defined that the issue of Culiacanazo 2.0, recently lived in the state, forces all the immense parties in tourism to redouble their efforts to highlight the attractions and Sinaloan benefits above the facts of insecurity, since foreign tourism, caravans with Americans and Canadians, retirees and with economic stability, which gives a break to the economy of virgin tourist places, as is the case of Las Glorias in Guasave.
“In this post-pandemic phenomenon and after the Culiacanazo phenomenon, which caused some of these tourists to emigrate or change their route that they originally planned to cross through Sinaloa and who decided to seek other borders to reach their final destinations, having the opportunity of receiving this caravan, which is a Canadian company that brings several groups scheduled for this winter season, forces us to do our best in order to send a message that traveling through the north of the state of Sinaloa is safe, it is friendly and that most of the people, if not all of us, feel very happy and blessed to be able to host this type of traveler,” he said.
And it is that, in addition to offering tourists a paradisiacal virgin beach, the organizers are aware of offering complete services, such as ecotourism routes to discover the beauty of the Navachiste Bay, or demonstrations of the Yoreme-Mayo indigenous culture with dances, history and preparation of traditional food such as the guacabaque, since it is precisely Guasave, the place considered the northern border of Mesoamerica.
