Through a video, social network users denounced alleged acts of discrimination against an indigenous family who got off an Aeroméxico flight, for which a case file was opened.

Oaxaca de Juárez .– Users of social networks denounced alleged acts of discrimination by personnel of the Aéromexico company against a family, whose members were taken off flight 2136 CDMX-Oaxaca, for which the Ombudsman for Human Rights of the People of Oaxaca (DDHPO) initiated a file on the case.

In a video that circulates on social networks, it is observed how people with neon yellow vests and radio communication devices order the family to get off the flight. “Tell me, do I bring the competent personnel or do you leave on your own?” A woman is heard questioning the father, who ends up leaving the aircraft together with his family.

Upon such a request, passengers are heard questioning the person why the family is required to get off and others to warn that it is an act of discrimination.

According to the complaint made on social networks, the family was of indigenous origin and was taken off the plane because of their appearance; however, the above cannot be confirmed in the video.

Due to these facts, the DDHPO initiated the file DDHPO/CA/274/(01)/OAX/2022, for alleged acts of discrimination committed against the family when boarding the Aeroméxico flight in Oaxaca and announced that the intervention of the National Council to Prevent Discrimination ( Conapred ) and requested reports of what happened to the company.

“From this autonomous body we reject any act of discrimination and fight for an inclusive society free of discrimination,” said the Ombudsman.

These alleged acts of discrimination are made known precisely on the same day that Aeroméxico inaugurated a new flight to Oaxaca , now from the “Felipe Ángeles” International Airport ( AIFA ), an act in which company officials reported that they expressed that they continue expanding and strengthening Aeromexico’s operations in Oaxaca.

“The city welcomed us with open arms more than 20 years ago and, since then, the relationship has borne fruit, reflected in the opening of routes to Huatulco, Puerto Escondido and today with this route that will operate from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport” Said Aeroméxico’s Southern Regional Manager – Gulf, Lucy Aguilar Pinto.

So far, the company has not spoken publicly about the allegations of discrimination.
