1992

VALLE DE BRAVO, ESTADO DE MEXICO.- The rains recorded in July did not impact the storage capacity of the Miguel Alemán Valdés dam since the reservoir level dropped 1.63%.

According to the Water Basin Organization of the Valley of Mexico, of the National Water Commission (Conagua), from July 1 to 26, 6,427 million cubic meters of water were lost.

On July 1, the dam registered 213 million 135 thousand cubic meters of water, representing 54.04% of the stored water capacity.

For the last update made by the Conagua agency, on July 26, 206 million 708 thousand cubic meters of water stored in the Miguel Alemán Valdés were recorded, containing 52.41% of its capacity.

Therefore, 6 million 427 thousand cubic meters of water (1.63%) were extracted in 26 days in July.

Likewise, the Basin Organization reported the collection of 147.4 liters of rainwater per square meter in 20 days of light rains reported in this region of southern Mexico.

Being on July 13, the day with the highest collection of rainwater, collecting 18.1 liters of rainwater per square meter.

Followed by July 17, when 16.9 liters of water per square meter were collected; and on the 24th, when it was possible to capture 16.1 liters of rainwater per square meter.

The days where the precipitation was null, in the month of July were 1, 14, 10, 12, 16, and 20, according to the daily report of “Storage in dams of the Cutzamala System 2022” of the Conagua.

However, the average level of the Cutzamala system was able to increase in these 26 days of July, reporting 21,461 million cubic meters of water more than at the beginning of the month.

In other words, the average accumulated from the Valle de Bravo, Villa Victoria, and El Bosque dams was 322.908 million cubic meters of water stored in the dams that make up the Cutzamala, representing 41.27% of the total capacity.

As of July 26, 344,369 million cubic meters of water were reached, reaching 44.01% of its total capacity, largely due to the amount of rainwater collected in the Bosque dam, located in the Zitácuaro municipality in the Michoacan state.

With these figures, in a general balance, the storage level of the Cutzamala increased in July, but, in Valle de Bravo, the rains have not impacted the current level of the Miguel Alemán Valdés dam.
