During the current administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, prosecutors have registered 125,677 intentional homicides in Mexico.
The report ‘MX: The War in Numbers’, by T-ResearchMX, details that, according to the registry of intentional homicides of the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection, from December 1, 2018, to July 10, 2022, time led by the current administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, state and federal prosecutors have registered 125,677 intentional homicides in Mexico.
It is observed that throughout the 44 months of AMLOs six-year term, an upward trend in the number of homicides is maintained.
The month with the highest record of intentional homicides was October 2020, with 3,347; On the other hand, the month with the lowest record of intentional homicides was January 2022 with 2,261 events, compared to February 2021 , considered by the authorities themselves as the month with the fewest murders.
The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) highlighted that so far in President López Obrador’s six-year term, there has been a 0.4 percent decrease in murders.
In 2021, the decrease was 4.1 percent, highlighted the president.
Making the comparison of deaths in the same period in other six-year terms, the current Government leads the record of said crime with 125 thousand 677 incidents, higher than that of the last Administration, with Enrique Peña Nieto, who registered 78 thousand 979.
In the same period of government of former President Felipe Calderón, 57 thousand 813 murders were registered, and, in the government of former President Vicente Fox, 36 thousand 893 were registered.
