Puerto Vallarta merchants against boardwalk street vendor permits being issued

2027

This week, the Association of Businesses, Bars and Restaurants of the Malecón of Puerto Vallarta presented a letter to the City Council so that there is zero tolerance and permits for itinerant commerce, particularly in the tourist strip.

In the letter, which this media had access to, it is mentioned that one of the objectives for which this association was created is to safeguard the formal economy established in the strip of the boardwalk from unfair competition represented by street vendors, commerce, and non-established or semi-fixed informal services.

For this reason, the members of this association request the elimination of the various modalities that are summarized in conclusion to street vendors and unfair competition to established businesses in general, as well as to restaurant bars.

Likewise, the brief indicates that they do not pay rents, taxes and sell identical, similar, or substitute products or services to those offered by the private initiative as a whole.

In addition to the fact that there is a terrible image on the boardwalk, the face and first tourist attraction of this destination, in addition to the fact that there have been constant acts of annoyance to visitors in general.

Therefore, this request indicates that its purpose is to safeguard the provision of legal and safe services and trade, giving certainty and meaning to the investors of the strip so that they are economically sustainable.

It should be noted that the letter is supported by the signature of some chambers, both Canirac Puerto Vallarta, which is dedicated to the restaurant industry, as well as Canaco, focused on businesses. And a prompt response from the municipal government is expected.
