Riviera Maya, Q.R. — With the regression back to an orange epidemiological light, authorities are moving forward with road closures and filters. The Ministry of Public Security, through the Quintana Roo Police, will begin closing roads and main avenues each day starting 8:00 p.m. January 24.

Some of these roads will have partial closures with intermittent filters to reduce vehicular traffic and pedestrian mobility, especially in high-traffic areas such as bars and restaurants.

From 1:30 a.m. until 5:00 a.m., these roads will be completely closed to all car and pedestrian traffic. In a press release, Governor Carlos Joaquin said the road closures will be implemented in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Cozumel, Tulum and Othón P. Blanco.

The Ministry of Health, through the Directorate of Protection against Sanitary Risks, is doubling surveillance actions and health promotion due to the orange light. The Mobility Institute of the State of Quintana Roo will also be participating in surveillance, especially in busy areas using loudspeakers and vehicle notices.

Sanitary inspections will be carried out on public transport vehicles. Authorities have not said which roads will be affected in the included cities.
