2041

Viva Aerobus, Mexico’s ultra-low-cost-carrier, has announced that expanded travel opportunities will soon be landing at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, in direct response to customer demand. Flights will begin in June, with the arrival of two new nonstop routes between Austin and Mexico.

Austin to Mexico City, a seasonal route, will operate twice a week on Tuesday and Sundays, from June 20 to October 25. Tickets are now on sale with one-way fares starting from $89, including taxes. Austin to Monterrey, a new year-round nonstop service operated only by Viva Aerobus, will fly twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays, beginning June 19. For this route, the airline is offering one-way fares as low as $99, taxes included.

“This exciting announcement of new international service for Austin is great news for both business and leisure travelers,” said Gina Fiandaca, Assistant City Manager over the SD23 Mobility Outcome. “These new routes show continued confidence in the Austin market, and represent a great opportunity for both our airport and our greater Austin community.”

These are the airline’s first connections into Austin and will be on board Viva Aerobus’ Airbus A320 aircraft, part of the youngest fleet in Mexico and second youngest fleet in North America.

“It is wonderful to be able to welcome our partners from Viva Aerobus to Austin, bringing increased travel options to Mexico City and a fantastic new route to Monterrey,” said Jacqueline Yaft, Chief Executive Officer for AUS.

These new routes also provide wide connectivity to U.S. passengers for a large part of the country as Viva Aerobus offers more than 32 domestic routes within Mexico from Monterrey and another 31 from Mexico City. Moreover, Viva offers travelers the possibility to connect by land to more than 100 destinations with preferential fares.
Since Viva belongs to Grupo IAMSA, the leading multimodal transport group in the country (land + air transport) travelers can take advantage of discounts of up to 50% in the most recognized Mexican bus companies.
