So far there are 1,733,089 recovered patients and 695,667 people already have the complete vaccination scheme against COVID-19

Dr. Gabriela del Carmen Nucamendi Cervantes, Director of Epidemiological Surveillance of Noncommunicable Diseases, reported that this March 20 there are already 197,827 confirmed deaths and 2,193,639 accumulated cases in Mexico due to COVID-19. However, in the last 24 hours, there were 613 deaths and 5,722 new infections.

Likewise, from the National Palace, he announced that the curve of estimated cases presented a decrease of 2% with respect to the immediately previous week, that is, from week eight to week nine of 2021. This percentage is much lower than that registered in previous weeks, “it presents with a much smaller decrease.”

They also counted 1,733,089 recovered patients and on the other hand, 695,667 people with a complete vaccination scheme are registered.

The specialist estimated that at the national level, 37,468 active infections are calculated (with a start date of the last 14 days due to the positivity index, by entity and epidemiological week), so if they do not comply with the proper isolation and all the sanitary measures, could potentially contribute to the transmission of the new disease.

In that sense, according to the update of the technical document consulted on the website of the federal health agency, it is shown that the entities with the highest number of active cases of SARS-CoV-2 in descending order are: Mexico City, State of Mexico, Querétaro, Guanajuato, Puebla and Nuevo León, entities with more than 1,000 active cases and which together account for 67% of active cases in the country.

In counterpart are Colima, Chiapas and Campeche, which concentrate the least amount of active cases, as they barely reach 119, 96, and 81 infections of this type, respectively.

The foregoing is reflected in the colors of the epidemiological traffic light that came into force since last Monday and will be in force until March 28 , where not a state is in red; 21 entities remain in yellow : Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Sinaloa, Durango, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Aguascalientes, Michoacán, Guerrero, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, Veracruz, Quintana Roo and Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí and Nuevo León.

In green color there are three states: Sonora, Chiapas, and Campeche; and finally, in orange there are eight entities: Mexico City, State of Mexico, Morelos, Puebla, Querétaro, Oaxaca, Tabasco and Yucatán. However, since this traffic light was released, Querétaro was especially alerted, who if he did not comply with sanitary measures, could return to red.

Regarding hospital occupancy, there is 23% occupancy of beds nationwide (both general care and with a ventilator).

Regarding general hospital beds, the expert explained that there are 22% (with a downward trend) of occupied spaces in the country. The five states that have between 30% and 49% occupancy are Mexico City, Puebla, State of Mexico, Morelos and Querétaro.

So far, no entity has more than 50% occupancy and the 27 states report less than 30% occupancy. That is, of the 31,787 total beds, 24,742 are available and 7,045 are inhabited.

On beds with mechanical ventilators for the most critical patients due to the disease, there is a national occupancy of 26%. There are seven entities that have between 30 and 49% of spaces used to this day: Mexico City, State of Mexico, Querétaro, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Yucatán and Aguascalientes

Likewise, there are 25 entities with less than 30% occupancy. In other words, of the 11,072 total beds, there are 8,182 beds available and 2,890 beds occupied. It should be noted that for several weeks the estimated and active cases of COVID-19 show a sustained decrease.
