One of the airlines that have best escaped the pandemic is Enrique Beltranena’s Volaris, which in 2021 has increased its fleet to 85 aircraft when at the beginning of 2020 it operated 79. Undoubtedly, the Interjet crisis continues in an «impasse »Due to its crisis, it has given the other airlines the possibility of absorbing its market and improving their numbers.

Interjet, for example, started the Covid-19 crisis with 68 aircraft operating, at this point it only has 6 aircraft available in its fleet.

According to the latest financial report of the airline, which dates from the first quarter of 2019, the Interjet fleet consisted of 22 SSJ100 aircraft, 48 A320 teams, and 14 A321 teams, in total, they totaled 84 aircraft.

Of this fleet, 62 aircraft were under the operating lease – or pure – and 22 under financial leasing conditions, which gave the airline the possibility of buying the aircraft at the end of a given term.

Interjet had long-term commitments with its lessors for operations such as the sale of 13 aircraft between 2017 and 2018 under the sale & leaseback scheme (or sale and lease of the same asset), which were maintained in the company’s fleet through a contract operating lease with a six-year maturity for seven aircraft sold in 2017, and a 12-year term for six aircraft sold in 2018.

The case of Viva Aerobus, on a smaller scale, but also benefited by the departure of Interjet from the competition, has been maintained with a similar number of aircraft in operation, they had 38 at the beginning of 202nd and now at the beginning of the rebound in operations, it has achieved increase its fleet to 43 aircraft.

While Aeromexico has not had such a healthy situation in the number of aircraft, but their financial situation has managed to stabilize thanks to the bankruptcy condition in the United States, in this case, they have started their rebound.

Before the pandemic, they had 125 aircraft operating, it dropped to 94 and already in the middle of the rebound, it currently operates with 102 aircraft, which already marks a rebound after the crisis.
