To promote the recovery of tourism and encourage national traveling, the Airbnb platform, the Federation of Tourist Associations (Fematur), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), for its acronym in English) announced the creation of five land routes.
This is a “Mexico by land” initiative, which contemplates five routes for mass and traditional tourism as an option to make trips despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Airbnb, with these new modalities, travelers will be safe and will promote the recovery of the sector.

These are the routes presented:
The Jaguar Corridor: Tuxtla Gutiérrez – San Cristóbal de la Casas – Lagunas de Montebello – Bonampak – Palenque – Palizada – Calakmul.
The Route of the Sun: Mexico City – Tepoztlán – Atlatlahucan – Cuautla – Cuernavaca – Xochicalco – Tequesquitengo – Taxco – Xalitla – Acapulco.
Jewels of the Pacific: Guadalajara – Tequila – Talpa de Allende – San Sebastián del Oeste – Boca de Tomatlán – Puerto Vallarta – Sayulita – San Blas – Mexcaltitán – Mazatlán – Las Labradas.
Paradises of the Caribbean: Holbox – Cancun – Puerto Morelos – Playa del Carmen – Cozumel – Akumal – Tulum – Muyil – Sian Ka’an – Bacalar – Mahahual.
Wonders of the Yucatan Peninsula: Mérida – Izamal – Yaxunah – Valladolid – Ek Balam – Ría Lagartos; Mérida – Uxmal – Hopelchén – Campeche – Champotón.
The director of Public Affairs of Airbnb Mexico, Jorge Balderrama, highlighted the importance of having achieved this alliance with WWF to stimulate sustainable trips and in balance with local communities and the environment, as well as with Fematur, to boost the economy of micro and small entrepreneurs from Mexico.
Finally, Lucía Ruiz, coordinator of Biodiversity and Financing of WWF, pointed out that with this alliance they will empower local communities in the preservation of natural and cultural heritage. The routes covered by Mexico by Land cover more than 50 protected natural areas and hundreds of community enterprises.
