Mazatlán, Sinaloa. The Development Council in Sinaloa reported that the Urban Competitiveness Index (ICU) in 2020 evaluated the capacity of the 73 cities and 392 most important municipalities in the country to attract and retain talent and investments, a study in which the municipalities of Culiacán and Mazatlán stood out.

According to data from the ICU, the state capital remains in the same position with respect to 2018, ranking number 9 among the cities with medium-high competitiveness within its category. Likewise, Mazatlán rises one position, ranking third overall within its category among cities with adequate competitiveness, while Los Mochis drops three positions with respect to 2018, placing 12th in its category, considered medium-low, according to the Urban Competitiveness Index 2020 carried out by IMCO with data from official sources published as of 2018.

It should be noted that the city of Culiacán managed to stand out in the first place of some of the sub-indices that make up the indicator, having the first position in Inclusive, prepared and healthy society within its category.
