Mazatlán, Sinaloa – Through a statement issued by the Movement for Equality of Nuevo León, it was announced that on Friday, October 16 of this year, Frida Itzae and Elena Mabel, became the first babies born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, registered with the last names of their two mothers.

The registration had to be carried out in the city of Nuevo León, because the girls’ right to identity was denied in their native Sinaloa, the same thing happening in the state of Nayarit, where the mothers got married, thus revealing the incongruity of the government of Nayarit, which protects and protects marriage between people of the same sex.

According to this statement, the two mothers contacted the Movement for Equality in Nuevo León, expressing their concern and requesting the support of the organization, immediately the movement began to work together with the Legal Department and Directorate of the Civil Registry of the State of Nuevo León, validating the application.

Alma Rosa Vargas García, Civil Registry Officer, was the one who assured the right to identity of the aforementioned babies.
