For the third consecutive day, a baby was among the list of coronavirus fatalities announced by the Yucatan health department.

The 11-month-old was by far the youngest of 26 who perished in the past 24 hours, SSY officials said Saturday.

Another 172 new cases were discovered, 32 more than the day before.

Coronavirus-related deaths in Yucatan now total 1,822 deaths and doctors have found 14,664 cases since March. That number is considered to be a significant undercount due to very limited testing.

Current patients include 557 in stable condition and resting at home. Hospitalizations dropped by 13 to total 454, the lowest number in about a month. At the same time, 160 patients were declared recovered from the virus, indicating a 79% recovery rate.

New infections remain widespread and include 82 in Merida, 22 in Progreso, 14 in Tizimín, 11 in Valladolid, seven in Ticul, six in Tinum, four in Peto, three in Kanasín and Tekax; two in Chichimilá, Río Lagartos and Umán; one in Chapab, Chemax, Chicxulub Pueblo, Dzitás, Espita, Hunucmá, Izamal, Maxcanú, Motul, San Felipe, Tixméhuac, Tzucacab and Ucú; and one from outside the state or country.
