Tropical Storm “Cristina” will bring heavy rains to Sinaloa

The forecast for the following hours indicates that  Tropical Storm Cristina will continue to intensify to a  possible Category 1 hurricane,  on the Saffir-Simpson scale, south of the  Baja California Peninsula.

Its cloud bands will cause very heavy rains in Sinaloa, Colima, Jalisco and Nayarit; strong in Baja California Sur and Michoacán, as well as winds with gusts of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour  (km / h) and waves of 2 to 3 meters  (m) on the southern coasts of Baja California Sur, Colima, and Jalisco.

Very heavy rains are estimated for Chiapas, Puebla, and Veracruz, as well as strong ones in Oaxaca, Tabasco and the Yucatan Peninsula, due to the passage of  Tropical Wave Number 14  over the southeast of Mexico.

Likewise, a low-pressure channel, in interaction with divergence in the upper atmosphere, will generate heavy rains in Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Durango, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Morelos, Querétaro, Tlaxcala, and Zacatecas.

All  rains  can be with  electric storms  and possible hail fall.

At 4:00 p.m. Central Mexico time, the center of tropical storm Cristina was located 570 kilometers (km) south-southwest of  Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, and 635 km west-southwest of  Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco, with winds of 110 km / h, gusts of up to 140 km / h and movement to the west-northwest at 20 km / h. It is kept under surveillance.

For this Friday, heavy rains are forecast   in Chiapas and Oaxaca; very strong  in Campeche, Tabasco, Veracruz and Yucatan; forts  in Guerrero, Jalisco and Quintana Roo; intervals of  showers  in Aguascalientes, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Colima, Durango, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Puebla, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tlaxcala and Zacatecas, in addition to  isolated rains  in Baja California, Coahuila, Hidalgo, Nuevo León, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Tamaulipas.

Wind with gusts of 50 to 60 km / h  and waves of 2 to 3 meters are expected on the coasts of Baja California Sur, in addition to the wind with gusts of 50 to 60 km / h in Campeche, Chihuahua, Coahuila, the Sea of ​​Cortez, Durango, Nuevo León, Sonora, Tamaulipas, the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and Yucatan.

The described conditions will be caused by the cloud bands of tropical cyclone Cristina,  which will be located to the west-southwest of Baja California Sur, in interaction with a low-pressure channel over the northwest of the country,  Tropical Wave Number 14  that will extend to the south Guerrero, as well as a new tropical wave that will travel through the Yucatan Peninsula.

During the morning,  minimum temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees  Celsius are estimated in the mountains of Chihuahua, Durango, State of Mexico, Puebla, and Zacatecas.

In contrast, maximum temperatures  above 45 degrees Celsius are forecast   for areas of northern Baja California, Chihuahua, and northwest Sonora; from  40 to 45 degrees Celsius  in Baja California Sur, Campeche, Coahuila, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas and Yucatán, as well as from  35 to 40 degrees  Celsius in Colima, Durango, Guerrero, Jalisco, the Isthmus region in Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Tabasco and Veracruz.
