Tabasco Cargo Truckers Join National Protest Against Excessive Regulations

- October 28, 2026

Cargo truck drivers in Tabasco joined a nationwide protest this Monday morning, organizing a caravan to demand the removal of excessive regulations that the sector claims lead to extortion and significant operational hurdles.

Approximately 40 heavy vehicle operators participated in a march that began at 9:00 AM from the Puente de Los Monos in Villahermosa, heading toward the municipality of Cárdenas. The drivers intended to return to the state capital later in the day as part of a coordinated effort to join protests occurring across the country.

While the slow movement of the heavy vehicles caused minor traffic delays, the flow of traffic remained constant throughout the route. The participants displayed informative banners on their trucks and were accompanied by members of the State Guard to ensure safety and order.

Leonel Álvarez Cid, the delegate for the National Chamber of Cargo Transport (CANACAR) in Tabasco, explained that the local demonstration was part of a broader national movement. He noted that specifically in Tabasco, the transport sector is calling for the abolition of excessive regulations imposed by both federal and municipal authorities. The unions argue that these bureaucratic hurdles create environments ripe for extortion, significantly harming drivers and the regional logistics industry.
