ÁLAMO, Veracruz – The state of San Luis Potosí has arrived at the 29th Huasteca Festival in Álamo, Veracruz, bringing with it a vibrant delegation of over 50 traditional bearers. The delegation represents six Potosino municipalities, participating in a major cultural exchange that unites six neighboring states.
The San Luis Potosí contingent features representatives from Tancanhuitz, Aquismón, Xilitla, Ciudad Valles, Tampacán, and San Antonio. Together, they are showcasing the diverse cultural expressions of the Potosino Huasteca, including huapangos, danzas de huehues, and traditional wind band music.
Beyond the performing arts, the delegation is sharing ancestral knowledge related to traditional medicine, artisanal crafts, regional cuisine, and midwifery—elements that form the core of the region’s identity.
The festival serves as a collaborative platform for representatives from Hidalgo, Querétaro, Puebla, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, and Veracruz. The event is designed to foster cultural exchange and recognize the shared traditions that link the communities across this unique geographic region.
Juan Carlos Torres Cedillo, Secretary of Culture for San Luis Potosí, is participating in the festival’s activities and highlighted its importance as a space for cooperation between the entities.
This edition of the festival is held within the framework of the Huasteca Cultural Development Program, currently coordinated by San Luis Potosí. The program aims to strengthen the bonds between communities, the traditional bearers, and the cultural institutions of the six participating states.
