New Partnership: Sylvania Off Road Teams Up with BFGoodrich for Legendary Baja 1000 Race

- October 9, 2026

ENSENADA, MEXICO — Sylvania Off Road has officially joined BFGoodrich Tires as a primary sponsor for the fourth and final round of the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship. The partnership comes as the racing community prepares for the legendary SCORE Baja 1000, which is scheduled to take place from November 9–15 in San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur.

The announcement serves as a milestone in the celebration of “53 Years of SCORE Desert Racing Excellence.” By joining forces with BFGoodrich, Sylvania Off Road—a brand with over a century of expertise in automotive lighting—seeks to bolster the visibility and performance standards of the sport.

The 2026 race will see the action shift toward the southern reaches of the Baja California Peninsula. San Jose del Cabo will serve as the starting and finishing point for the grueling 964.66-mile course, making it only the second city in Baja California Sur to host a race start, following La Paz in 2023. The route is set to traverse iconic off-road landmarks, including Los Barriles, La Paz, Ciudad Constitución, Cerro del Mechudo, Loreto, and Todos Santos, showcasing the dramatic landscapes between the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean.

The partnership highlights a deepening commitment to one of the most storied races in motorsports. BFGoodrich Tires has maintained a preeminent position in the sport, serving as the Official Tire of SCORE for 49 years. The brand’s dominance is reflected in its track record: it has been the tire of choice for 34 overall winners of the SCORE Baja 1000 and 34 winners of the SCORE Baja 500. Furthermore, BFGoodrich provided the tires for 32 of the 39 overall winners of the SCORE San Felipe 250.

For the 2026 season, all four SCORE events will be held on the Baja California peninsula, marking the 11th consecutive year that the entire World Desert Championship remains in Mexico. The new sponsorship with Sylvania Off Road underscores the continued commercial and cultural growth of the event as it remains a cornerstone of the global off-road racing scene.
