The city of Hermosillo will host the inaugural edition of the Cultural Festival “”200 Years of Friendship between Mexico and France”” in 2026. The event is designed to commemorate the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Beatriz Aldaco Encinas, director of the Sonoran Institute of Culture (ISC), presented the festival’s program, highlighting the goal of creating a space to reflect on the historical and constructive ties between Mexico and France.

“”We wanted to provide this niche of historical possibilities to weigh the relations between Mexico and France from a serious, historical, and proactive perspective,”” Aldaco Encinas stated. She also noted that the event aims to foster community engagement, taking advantage of the presence of the French consul in Hermosillo to celebrate the shared cultural heritage.
