Festival Revueltas 2026 to Celebrate Cultural Legacy Across Durango

- October 14, 2026

The Festival Revueltas 2026 will showcase the artistic legacy of the renowned Revueltas family, bringing music, dance, and theater to communities and schools throughout the state of Durango.

Organized by the State Government of Durango in collaboration with the Mexican Ministry of Culture—through the Support for Cultural and Artistic Festivals (Profest)—this multidisciplinary event marks over 25 years of history. The festival serves as a tribute to Silvestre, Fermín, José, and Rosaura Revueltas, featuring a diverse program of theater, literature, visual arts, and music. Key venues will include the Francisco Villa Museum, with the state of San Luis Potosí and its Xantolo tradition featured as special guests.

A primary focus of this edition is cultural decentralization. The festival will expand to 11 municipalities—with a significant presence in Santiago Papasquiaro and Lerdo—and reach more than 20 primary education schools, orphanages, and nursing homes.

Key Highlights and Artistic Programming

The 2026 edition features several major components designed to engage both the public and local residents:

  • Musical Rediscovery: A collaboration between the National Institute of Arts and Culture (INBAL) and performers from Mexico City and Durango will present previously unpublished works by composer Silvestre Revueltas, accompanied by Gilda Revueltas.
  • Massive Folk Dance: The “Revolcadero Masivo” will serve as a collective celebration of regional identity, aiming to unite more than 2,000 simultaneous dancers to the rhythm of Los Montañeses del Álamo.
  • Cultural Inclusion: The festival will offer artistic performances adapted for diverse audiences, including presentations at the State DIF Orphanage and various residences for the elderly.
  • Visual and Performing Arts: The program will include regional theater showcases, literary talks, and visual arts exhibitions in iconic regional spaces.
