Mexico City is set to host the second edition of “La Carrera del Ring” in 2026, a unique sporting event that combines a road race with the vibrant culture of Lucha Libre. Organized by the Mexico City Government—through the Secretariat of Tourism and the Tourism Promotion Mixed Fund—in collaboration with the World Wrestling Council (Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre) and Asdeporte, the event will feature 5K and 10K race distances, starting and ending at the iconic Monumento a la Revolución.
Participants will have the opportunity to compete in either a 5K or 10K race, with specific age categories for both men and women. A unique highlight of the competition is the “Rudos vs. Técnicos” theme, where runners can choose to represent either the “villains” or the “heroes” of the wrestling world during their registration. The event will culminate in a special Lucha Libre performance at the finish line.
Registration is currently open via the Asdeporte website, with a “Plus” price starting at 495 MXN and a standard entry fee of 550 MXN. Online registration is set to close on November 27, 2025, or earlier if capacity is reached. The event will host a maximum of 4,000 participants.
The race is scheduled for Sunday, November 29, 2026. Runners who register will receive a commemorative kit including a t-shirt, runner number with a timing chip, and a competitor bag. The event will also feature live tracking via the Asdeporte app, 2Digital photo services, and official timing by TYR. Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in both the 5K and 10K categories for men and women. Runners are advised to complete their registration and pick up their kits by November 28, 2026, at a location to be confirmed.
