The convergence of the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix and the traditional Day of the Dead holiday is poised to become one of the most significant periods of activity for the restaurant industry in Mexico City. For many establishments, the weekend could serve as a final opportunity this year to maximize revenue.
The National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry of Mexico City (CANIRAC CDMX) estimates that the coincidence of these two major events will generate an economic impact of nearly 1.5 billion pesos between October 30 and November 2. This forecast comes at a challenging time for the sector, which is currently navigating a landscape of weakened consumer spending and rising food costs.
The calendar offers a particularly favorable window for the hospitality industry. The Mexico City Grand Prix is scheduled to begin on Friday, October 30, with the initial practice sessions at the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome. This will be followed by qualifying on Saturday, October 31, and the main race on Sunday, November 1. The festivities will then transition into the Day of the Dead celebrations on Monday, November 2.
