PUEBLA, Mexico – The Carrera Panamericana 2026 has returned to Puebla as part of its official route, transforming the state into the backdrop for one of the country’s most prestigious motorsport competitions. The event is projected to generate an economic impact of 8 million pesos for the region.
The arrival of 72 racing crews at the Zócalo in Puebla gathered families, racing fans, and tourists for a day that blended high-octane motorsports with tourism, culture, and social responsibility. During the reception, Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier, accompanied by the honorary president of the State DIF System, Ceci Arellano, welcomed the participants with the checkered flag and presented medals to the winners of the stage.
Strengthening Tourism and International Visibility
The State Government highlighted that the presence of the Carrera Panamericana represents a prime opportunity to project Puebla as a premier destination for tourism, gastronomy, and sports.
Official estimates suggest that the event will benefit more than 50 municipalities and see hotel occupancy rates exceed 450 rooms, impacting the hospitality, restaurant, retail, and service sectors. Furthermore, the international coverage of the competition—which reaches more than 189 countries—provides a platform to showcase Puebla’s attractions to a global audience.
A Spectacle of Tradition and Sport
After traversing more than 350 kilometers, the 72 crews arrived at Puebla’s Historic Center to complete their stage. The influx of vehicles drew large crowds of enthusiasts to the Zócalo to witness the cars and participate in the closing ceremony.
Local highlights included a performance by the State of Puebla’s Folkloric Ballet, featuring nearly 30 young dancers who brought music and tradition to the reception. Notably, local pilot Yair Peralta represented the state alongside his navigator during the competition.
Social Impact and Community Support
The event also featured a strong social component. Karen León Brucemann, honorary president of the Carrera Panamericana, presented 10 wheelchairs to the general director of the State DIF System, Carlos González Ochoa. This initiative aims to improve mobility for people in need within the community.
The State Government reaffirmed its commitment to hosting international sporting and cultural events that drive economic growth, attract visitors, and strengthen Puebla’s position on the national and international stage.
