- October 14, 2026

San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León — In a significant move to modernize public transportation and bolster mobility in Nuevo León, Governor Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda conducted a supervision tour of the Citadel Station yards and workshops. During the visit, he inspected the sixth train destined for Metro Lines 4 and 6.

Accompanied by the Director of Metrorrey and the IMA, Abraham Vargas Molina, the Governor reviewed the progress of the project, highlighting that the viaduct for Lines 4 and 6 is 97% complete. Furthermore, 60% of the stations are finished, with official inauguration dates expected to be announced soon.

“Very soon, Nuevo León will debut the new Metro: Lines 4, 6, and the airport line,” Governor García stated. He detailed that the new trains consist of six cars and can transport between 720 and 1,100 passengers at speeds of up to 70 km/h, connecting the airport to San Pedro.

The Governor specifically noted that the Citadel Station covers nine hectares, mentioning that many of the terminals are nearly complete, pending only roofing, membranes, and final electrical connections.

Abraham Vargas Molina explained that the trains currently in the city underwent dynamic testing in China. Once assembled locally, they will undergo static verification before being moved to the viaduct for final functional checks. He also confirmed that the Feeding Substation building for the yards and workshops is ready, featuring two access ramps to the main track.

The trains for Lines 4 and 6 are state-of-the-art vehicles acquired through a contract with the Mota-Engil México and CRRC Ltd. consortium. The project for the yards and workshops includes various technical and administrative facilities, such as:

  • Major Maintenance Workshops: For deep technical interventions, structural repairs, and major component refurbishments.
  • Minor Maintenance Workshops: For routine inspections, preventive diagnostics, and minor repairs.
  • Specialized Areas: Including tire replacement tracks, door test tracks, pumping stations, electrical substations, specialized warehouses, and a wastewater treatment plant to process fluids generated during maintenance activities.
