Tamaulipas Records 15.7% Industrial Surge, Outpacing Other Mexican States

- October 10, 2026

Tamaulipas has emerged as the national leader in industrial growth for June 2026, outperforming all other Mexican states in industrial activity. According to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by Federative Entity (IMAIEF) published by INEGI, the state recorded a significant 15.7% increase compared to the same month in 2025.

State Secretary of Economy, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, highlighted that the state consolidated its national leadership in both annual and monthly comparisons. This surge is primarily attributed to the dynamism of the oil mining, manufacturing, and construction sectors.

“This result reflects the strength of our industrial sector, the dynamism of investment, and, above all, the solidity of our economy,” Cantú Deándar stated. She attributed the growth to the leadership of Governor Américo Villarreal, noting that his focus on security, legal certainty, and infrastructure is creating a favorable environment for investment and expansion.

While Tamaulipas took the top spot, the INEGI report also identified Hidalgo, Colima, Veracruz, Yucatán, and Oaxaca as entities with some of the most notable industrial increments in the country.

The Secretary noted that the current performance reaffirms the upward economic trend the state has maintained throughout the year. She emphasized that the results reflect the confidence of the private sector in Tamaulipas’ manufacturing vocation.

“The Ministry of Economy will continue working with the productive sector to ensure that industrial growth contributes to creating more opportunities and well-being for the families of Tamaulipas,” Cantú Deándar concluded.
