Maritime Authorities Order Navigation Bans in Veracruz, Tabasco, and Campeche

- October 9, 2026

Maritime authorities have ordered the suspension of navigation for small vessels in several ports across the states of Tabasco, Veracruz, Tamaulipas, and Campeche as Tropical Storm “Isaías” moves toward the Mexican coastline.

The Mexican Navy (SEMAR) reported that the storm is currently situated approximately 437 kilometers east of Tampico, Tamaulipas, and 445 kilometers northeast of Veracruz. The system is moving in an east-northeast direction at a speed of 13 kilometers per hour. Meteorological bulletins indicate that the storm is expected to bring heavy rainfall, intense showers, and electrical storms to the regions of Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.

To ensure public safety, the maritime authority has implemented a navigation ban for minor vessels in the following locations:

Tamaulipas: Tampico, Altamira, and La Pesca.
Veracruz: Tuxpan, Cazones, Nautla, and Tecolutla.
Tabasco: Dos Bocas, Frontera, and Sánchez Magallanes.
Campeche: Isla del Carmen, Cayo Arcas, Yuum Kaab Naab, and Champotón, Seybaplaya.
Notably, the port of Tuxpan in Veracruz remains open for larger vessels.

The Navy has issued an urgent call for caution to all port and cabotage navigation. Coastal residents have been warned to remain vigilant against potential riverine flooding, coastal inundation, and landslides in low-lying areas. Authorities are urging the public to stay informed via official meteorological updates as the storm’s trajectory continues to develop.
