SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, GUANAJUATOGovernor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo announced a new economic strategy alongside 17 major investment projects totaling US$2.558 billion for Guanajuato, a move expected to create 3,567 new jobs across the state.

Unveiled in San Miguel de Allende, the initiative, titled “Guanajuato Suma, Un Nuevo Rumbo para Nuestra Gente” (Guanajuato Sums Up, A New Course for Our People), marks a policy shift aimed at decentralizing economic growth beyond traditional industrial corridors. The policy seeks to transform the state into North America’s premier advanced industrial ecosystem by focusing on innovation, technological transformation, and high-value manufacturing rather than low-cost production.

“Up until today, we have built a successful model of collaboration between government, business, and universities. Now we want to go further,” Governor García stated. “We want to bring together research centers, international organizations, and investors to accelerate innovation.”

The strategy rests on five core pillars: balanced regional development, tech transformation and product diversification, industrial infrastructure and energy, talent development, and support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Key focus industries include semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centers, electromobility, medical devices, and clean energy, alongside traditional automotive, mining, and real estate sectors.

By 2030, the state aims to secure $8 billion in cumulative investments, generate 50,000 new strategic jobs, and support 14,000 local businesses. With this latest wave, Governor García’s administration has accumulated 76 investment projects worth over $6.4 billion, achieving 80% of its six-year investment goal.

To support this industrial push, the Governor also inaugurated a $45 million power plant built by Corral Energy at the San Miguel de Allende Business Park. The high-voltage facility features a 60-megawatt capacity, strengthening energy infrastructure for expanding regional industries.
