Volaris has announced significant adjustments to its operations from the “Hermanos Serdán” International Airport in Puebla, just over two months after launching 12 new routes in June 2026. Due to lower-than-expected profitability and demand, the airline will cancel three of those routes.
Canceled Routes
The routes that will cease operations starting August 29, 2026 include:
Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Guerrero
León (El Bajío), Guanajuato
San Luis Potosí
The company indicated that this decision is part of an ongoing evaluation of its network to maintain sustainable operations, optimize capacity toward markets with higher demand, and mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs.
New Destinations in December
In contrast to the adjustments, Volaris reported that it will strengthen connectivity from Puebla by opening three new destinations starting December 1, 2026:
Acapulco, Guerrero (two weekly flights)
Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca (three weekly flights)
Chicago O’Hare, United States (three weekly flights)
Tickets for these new routes are already available for consultation and booking on the airline’s website, featuring competitive introductory fares.
