While thousands of families hope to enjoy the World Cup events in peace, intelligence reports warn of a possible escalation of violence perpetrated by organized crime groups operating on the border between Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.

Information obtained from consulted sources indicates that members of the Gulf Cartel have been instructed to carry out violent acts, road blockades, vehicle thefts, and other criminal activities, with the aim of sowing fear, disrupting the movement of the population, and demonstrating their operational capacity in the region.

The municipalities under alert include Monterrey, Guadalupe, Juárez, Cadereyta, China, and General Bravo in Nuevo León; as well as Camargo, Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, Miguel Alemán, and Reynosa in Tamaulipas.

The situation is worrisome because, once again, citizens would be caught between the authorities’ inability to guarantee security and the violence of the Gulf Cartel, which continues to defy the State.

The recommendations are:

  • Avoid traveling at night on the Monterrey-Reynosa highway.
  • Stay informed only through official sources.
  • Do not approach roadblocks, irregular checkpoints, or suspicious situations.
  • Report any incident to 911.

Criminals seek to generate terror and impose their presence. The best defense is to stay alert, informed, and take precautions. Your family’s safety should be your priority.
