Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 1.46%

Mexico equities were higher at the close on Friday, June 12th, as gains in the S&P/BMV Industrials Select, Consumer Goods & Services and S&P/BMV Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 1.46%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA), which rose 5.75% or 0.75 points to trade at 13.80 at the close. Banco Del Bajio SA Institution De Banca Multiple (BMV:BBAJIOO) added 4.63% or 2.44 points to end at 55.18 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV:PEOLES) was up 3.39% or 27.34 points to 834.71 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA), which fell 2.56% or 0.97 points to trade at 36.91 in late trade. Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) declined 1.48% or 0.22 points to end at 14.61 and Grupo Comercial Chedraui, SAB De CV (BMV:CHDRAUIB) down 0.19% or 0.17 points to 90.89.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 147 to 72, and 17 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

Shares in Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.48% or 0.22 to 14.61.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 3.06% or 125.75 to $4,239.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.97% or 3.48 to hit $84.23 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 4.03% or 3.64 to trade at $86.74 a barrel.
