Rigoberto “N” and Yudelmis “N”, both Cuban nationals, were apprehended by Cancún police officers during an operation in Supermanzana 23, following disturbances outside the residence where they allegedly live.

The case is related to the assault of a Mexican citizen, an incident that was shared on social media and sparked outrage among neighbors.

After the video went viral, a group of people went to the property and threw stones at it, causing property damage and prompting a large police response in the area.

ERUM (Emergency Medical Response Unit) personnel also provided medical attention to Yudelmis “N”, who is pregnant, to check on her health.

Both individuals were turned over to the National Institute of Migration, which will monitor their immigration status in accordance with the law.

Authorities reported that the situation was under control and traffic was restored without further incident.

The collective outrage began hours earlier when a video recorded by the man who was allegedly attacked started circulating. In the footage, the Mexican man arrives at the house to ask for the vaccination record of the dog that, he claims, had just bitten him.

While recording the situation “for safety,” the man initially tried to talk to a woman who was outside the house. Minutes later, the Cuban man appeared, and an argument ensued, quickly escalating.

The video shows the Cuban man re-entering the house and then aggressively exiting to physically attack the Mexican man, a scene that sparked a wave of reactions on social media and calls for retaliation.

Authorities in Quintana Roo later reiterated that no one can take the law into their own hands and urged the public to file formal complaints regarding any criminal activity.

Mexican media also reported that the Cuban man was eventually arrested following the disturbances in the area, and that he will be deported back to the Caribbean island.
