Cause: The Mexican man was bitten by the Cuban man’s dog in the street. After confronting him to demand the vaccination record and rule out rabies, the dog’s owner refused and reacted with blows.

Location: The incident occurred on Palmar Walkway, near Market 23 in Cancún (not in the Pok Ta Pok area).

Neighborhood reaction: The video of the assault went viral, causing dozens of enraged neighbors to gather outside the Cuban man’s home.

The crowd threw stones, damaged the property, and demanded the intervention of the authorities to deport him.

Authorities intervened:

Officers from the Municipal Public Security Secretariat and the police intervened to prevent the attempted lynching from escalating.

Authorities secured the area and took the individual into custody to be presented to the National Migration Institute to determine responsibility for the attacks.
