Christi Gibson was sitting at the pool at a timeshare resort in Mazatlán, Mexico, on Sunday, Feb. 22, when she read some startling news on her phone.
Mexico’s top drug lord, Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera, had been killed by the Mexican military and cartel members were retaliating by blowing up gas stations, cars and buses. The authorities were telling people to stay inside.
