The president announced she will travel to Honduras on April 9.

President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed she will attend the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which will be held on April 9 in Honduras.

In her morning press conference, the president detailed that she will travel that same day to Tegucigalpa, where she will meet with her Honduran counterparts, Xiomara Castro, and Gustavo Petro of Colombia, who will assume the presidency of CELAC.

She specified that she will only be in Honduras for approximately two hours, returning to Mexico that same day.

“It’s April 9th, so I’ll be in Tegucigalpa for about two hours or so, to be able to accompany President Xiomara and President Petro, who is assuming the presidency of CELAC, and other presidents from Latin America and the Caribbean,” she said at the National Palace.

When asked about her call yesterday with Xiomara Castro, she specified that they only discussed the invitation to the summit and explained that she would only be at the opening because she has “a lot of work here in Mexico.”

This time, she will travel to Honduras on a plane from the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), because commercial planes make stops, so it would take longer.
