In a significant blow to organized crime, authorities in Sinaloa dismantled 27 clandestine narco laboratories within a span of just 48 hours. The operation, which took place on February 21 and 22, 2025, involved a coordinated effort by federal and state forces, including the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), the National Guard, the Navy, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the State Attorney General’s Office, and the Sinaloa Public Security Secretariat.

The laboratories were discovered in various locations across the municipalities of Cosalá, Culiacán, and Mocorito. In Cosalá, the labs were found in areas such as Los Cedritos, La Bacata, El Veinticuatro, El Bichi de Arriba, El Cajoncito, La Llama, and Vizcaíno. In Culiacán, they were located in Las Tapias, El Tomo, Tepuche, San Francisco, Carrizalejo, La Soledad, Cerro de las Bebelamas, Los Mayos de Abajo, and Portezuelo. In Mocorito, the labs were detected in Terrero de los Pachecos.

The dismantled laboratories were equipped with specialized tools and chemicals used in the production of synthetic drugs. Authorities seized equipment such as reactors, storage tanks, condensers, and various chemical compounds. Some of the laboratories were destroyed on-site to prevent their reuse.

The operation was part of a broader strategy to combat drug production and trafficking in the region. The authorities emphasized their commitment to disrupting the operations of criminal organizations and urged the public to report any suspicious activities anonymously through emergency numbers.

The successful dismantling of these laboratories highlights the ongoing efforts of Mexican authorities to tackle the drug trade and reduce the influence of organized crime in the country. However, the scale of the operation also underscores the persistent challenges faced in addressing the production and distribution of illicit drugs.
