The Mexican government announced the seizure of 18 kilos of fentanyl in Sonora
In a joint statement from the Ministries of Defense, Navy, Attorney General, and National Guard, they reported that a total of 18 kilos of fentanyl pills were confiscated, discovered next to the spare tire of a passenger bus, during an operation between the cities of Santa Ana and Hermosillo in Sonora.
This seizure coincides with Trump’s announcement to impose 25% tariffs on products imported from Mexico and Canada, its partners in the North American Free Trade Agreement (T-MEC).
Mexican authorities have multiplied announcements of seizures of synthetic drugs, particularly fentanyl, amid pressure from Trump over tariffs.
