Journalist Alejandro Gallegos murdered in Villahermosa, Tabasco

The State Attorney General’s Office issued a search warrant after the disappearance of journalist Alejandro Gallegos León was reported, however, hours later, he was found dead.

This Saturday, January 25th, violence shook Tabasco again, leaving three dead in separate incidents; among the victims is journalist Alejandro Gallegos León.

In Villahermosa, two people were executed at a taco stand near the ADO bus terminal, while in the municipality of Cárdenas, journalist and college professor Alejandro Gallegos León was found dead, having been reported missing hours earlier.

In the morning, the tragedy occurred when armed men broke into a taco stand on Lino Merino Street and shot at the diners.

A woman died on the spot, while two more people were injured and were taken to the Dr. “Gustavo A. Rovirosa Pérez” High Specialty Hospital, where one of them died on arrival.

Witnesses reported that the attackers fled quickly and, although the authorities deployed an operation in the area, so far there have been no arrests.

What happened to journalist Alejandro Gallegos?

On the other hand, Alejandro Gallegos León, professor, journalist, and director of the magazine La Voz del Pueblo, was found dead in a vacant lot in Cárdenas.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) issued a search warrant hours earlier after reporting his disappearance.

According to his relatives, Gallegos, 51, disappeared on Friday afternoon, wearing a beige guayabera, blue trousers, and black shoes.

However, a few hours later his death was confirmed. Presumably, he was executed.

The state governor, Javier May, lamented the death of the journalist and reported that the state attorney’s office is already investigating the incident.

“The commitment of our government is zero impunity,” he said.

The state prosecutor’s office indicated that the lifeless body of Alejandro Gallegos was found at Km. 5 of the highway that goes to the municipality of Cárdenas.

The statement added that the journalist and academic was last seen in the municipality of Centro.

An investigation was started regarding these events, but as is customary in Tabasco, there are no arrests.
