U.S. Embassy issues alert after execution in Mexico City uptown neighborhood

A man allegedly related to the Cartel Jalisco <nueva GeneraciĆ³n was gunned down inside a restaurant in broad daylight.

The Embassy urged American citizens to use caution and avoid the area if possible.

The United States Embassy in Mexico issued an alert after a shooting in Polanco, in which one person was killed. According to the diplomatic mission, the shooting took place in a restaurant inside the Miyana shopping plaza, in the Polanco area, around 4:00 p.m. in Mexico City.

The Embassy urged American citizens to exercise caution and avoid the area if possible. It also reminded them that the State Departmentā€™s Travel Notice for Mexico City is classified as Level 2: Extreme caution due to crime.

Among the recommendations given, it is also advised to remain alert and aware of the surroundings, keep a low profile, and be aware of updates through local media.

It is also recommended to review personal security plans and follow the instructions of local authorities. If you need assistance, you are advised to call 911.
