IRONMAN has announced that Riviera Nayarit in Mexico will host the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Riviera Nayarit triathlon set to take place on November 10, 2024.
The new IRONMAN 70.3 Riviera Nayarit triathlon will start with a 1.9km (1.2-mile) swim in the Pacific Ocean. After exiting the water, athletes will take on the 90km (56-miles) bike ride on the route towards Puerto Vallarta before capping off their race with a 21 km (13.1-miles) run through the Hotel District and main Marina of Riviera Nayarit.
“We are excited to offer this new race location to the IRONMAN 70.3 portfolio of races now available in Mexico,” said Joanna Jordan, Vice President – Managing Director of Latin America for The IRONMAN Group.
“We have worked hard to offer well-placed racing opportunities and entry points for new athletes hoping to one day participate in an IRONMAN event. We look forward to welcoming people from around the world to compete in the new IRONMAN 70.3 Riviera Nayarit race and enjoy everything that this beautiful Latin American city has to offer.”
Nuevo Nayarit is a resort on Mexico’s Pacific coast, just north of Puerto Vallarta. The resort area sits on Banderas Bay and is known for its golf courses, marina, and long, sandy Nuevo Vallarta beach. A short distance off the coast, the biodiverse Marieta Islands are home to wildlife, including dolphins, turtles, and humpback whales. Northwest of Nuevo Nayarit is the laid-back village of Sayulita, which is known for its surfing.
The 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 Riviera Nayarit will offer age group qualifying slots to the 2025 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship taking place on November 8-9, 2025, in Marbella, Spain.
