Just 30 minutes into the start of this Monday, a chilling event shook the city of Playa del Carmen. A cyclist was the victim of an execution by hitmen traveling in a blue vehicle.
According to initial reports, the victim was shot from the window of the moving vehicle, with seven shots in total. Three bullets hit the cyclist’s body, resulting in his death at the scene.

Eyewitnesses who heard the explosions called the emergency number 911, which led to the immediate arrival of two army patrols and the subsequent intervention of the municipal police, who cordoned off the area.
The Specialized Homicide Prosecutor’s Office has already started an investigation to clarify the motives behind this violent act and find the whereabouts of those responsible.
The victim’s body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) to carry out the legal autopsy. The community of Playa del Carmen is waiting for answers in the midst of this shocking tragedy.
