A traffic accident occurred in the early hours of this Saturday on the Playa del Carmen – Tulum highway, where a passenger transport van and two other vehicles were involved, leaving 12 people injured and six dead.

According to the preliminary report, the accident took place at 06:30 in the morning on the aforementioned highway, near Punta Venado. According to reports from the authorities, a tourist transport bus from the “Del Valle” company, a passenger transport van from the “Playa Express” company and a water pipe were involved.

According to the medical report provided by the Secretariat of Citizen Security, medical units from Costamed, two fire units and another medical ambulance from Life were present at the scene of the accident, who treated a total of 12 injured people, all of them passengers. from the public transportation urvan where tourism workers and national tourists traveled.

Among the injured, 8 were classified in code yellow due to the severity of their injuries, while 4 were classified in code green and 3 people were confirmed dead at the scene of the accident.

Everything indicates that at least six people lost their lives after paramedic care.

Experts are investigating the mechanics of the events to clarify the definition of responsibilities, but it is not ruled out that excessive speed may have been an important factor in this tragic accident.
