Inhabitants of the Palestinian community, municipality of Ocosingo, Chiapas, marched this Thursday to demand that federal and state authorities strengthen security in the area in the face of the increase in cases of criminal acts.

The residents reported that dozens of families have been victims of rent collection and extortion by a group called Los polleros, which are linked to organized crime.

In response to this scenario, they requested the entry of the Mexican Army, the National Guard and the State Police to recover the security and stability of the population, who avoid leaving so as not to become a victim of crime.

It is important to highlight that this criminal group operates mainly in the Lacandona Jungle area, covering the most important towns such as Frontera Corozal, Nueva Palestinian, San Javier and Santo Domingo.

The inhabitants held an assembly and among the agreements was to create a self-defense group to confront Los polleros and in turn expel them from the region where they began to expand their presence.
