During the Family Leadership Summit in Des Moines, Iowa, former television host Tucker Carlson suggested that Mexico was a bigger threat to the United States than Russia, as well as proposing to “bomb” the country to crack down on drug trafficking.
Throughout the event that took place on Friday, July 14, Tucker Carlson interviewed six candidates for the presidential candidacy of the Republican Party, including the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, as well as that of Arkansas, Asa Hutchinson, former Vice President Mike Pence and the Senator Tim Scott, some of the most influential figures heading into 2024 under former President Donald Trump.

Scott said the issue had to be addressed, but not from a combat perspective.
Tucker Carlson later interviewed Asa Hutchinson, the governor of Arkansas, to whom he suggested: “Why not bomb the Mexican cartels?” act of war” against an allied country.
Carlson constantly touched on the issue of the war between Russia and Ukraine, accusing the country governed by Volodymyr Zelenski as a “client” of the United States; however, Mike Pence acknowledged that the Biden administration should continue military support and even rush it, as it was a way to maintain security.

Carlson was fired from Fox News last April, after it was discovered that he insulted the management of the media outlet, which is facing defamation problems, since the presenter has repeatedly promoted conspiracies such as the 2020 elections in the United States, were rigged in favor of the current president, Joe Biden.
