The end of the term to register your chocolate car in the REPUVE is approaching and continue driving it with the decree to register them in the register.

The federal government headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador launched a regularization program for chocolate cars last year with the intention of keeping a register of vehicles of foreign origin that circulate in national territory, so that motorists who drive one of these cars can register their cars so that they finally have their papers in order to use them without problem.

The period to carry out the procedure is still valid, so a unit can still be registered to keep the documentation up to date, but it is better to do it at once since the registration period in the Public Vehicular Registry (REPUVE) is not permanent and If the regularization process is pass due, drivers will no longer be able to drive in those cars.

Federal authorities have recently reported that in the year the chocolate car regularization program has been in operation, to date close to a million and a half people have registered with this modality their cars in the REPUVE since the publication of the corresponding decree in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), whose validity has been extended by the Chief Executive but once the defined period ends, new registrations will no longer be accepted.

The regularization period for chocolate cars expires on June 30, 2023, after the extension to three more months by López Obrador, however, when this time expires, the authorities may seize foreign units that circulate in Mexico without proper registration in the federal database.

As the call to register these cars for legal use will close, after the deadline, those who have not taken advantage of the Government’s initiative to drive these cars in order, as long as they entered the national territory before October 2021; then they will no longer enjoy the support offered.

The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection maintains the deadline of June 30 set to complete the process and after that day the program will expire, so if you miss it, you will definitely lose the opportunity.
