Authorities find 123 immigrants inside a truck in Ecatepec, State of Mexico

Authorities from the municipality of Ecatepec responded to the report after settlers indicated that groups of people could be heard crowded inside the truck.

According to first reports, Ecatepec municipal police responded to a report made by telephone about a truck parked in the Ciudad Cuauhtémoc neighborhood, and inside it was transporting 123 immigrants, a woman was arrested as the alleged perpetrator.

Subsequently, the officers who responded to the report arrived at the scene and inside the truck, they found people of Guatemalan and Salvadoran nationality: 93 men, 23 women, and 4 minors.

On Xochipilli street in the municipality of Ecatepec, elements of the municipal police detained 43-year-old Leticia “N”, accused of putting the immigrants on the truck.

Likewise, a white Ford F150 truck was seized for allegedly being used as an escort for the truck during the tour.

According to the media, inside were the driver and an accomplice who, upon noticing the presence of the authorities, managed to flee and abandon the vehicle.

The immigrants and the woman were presented at the Public Ministry to determine their legal status.
