Gala Puerto Vallarta – Riviera Nayarit, the leading event for the travel and tourism industry on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, now in its 28th edition, will take place on February 16 and 17 at the Vidanta convention center in the state of Nayarit.

Since this year the state of Nayarit will host the event, organizers are promoting it as ‘Gala Riviera Nayarit & Puerto Vallarta,’ but the goal remains the same – to bring national and international travel wholesalers and tour operators together with Banderas Bay area hotel industry leaders to promote business opportunities.

This includes two days of prearranged B2B appointments, property visits, events, media interviews, meeting planner visits, and a special tour of the region for a delegation of Mexican consulates, who are now coordinating Mexico’s tourism promotion abroad.

The negotiations carried out at Gala Riviera Nayarit & Puerto Vallarta work hand-in-hand with the continuous work of the tourism boards who, in alliance with the three levels of government, promote the destination throughout the year.

This year’s event, organized by the Nayarit State Secretary of Tourism, is an integral part of the state’s new promotional campaign that aims to enhance tourism in the Riviera Nayarit and expand tourism to the entire state through its cultural and historical offer, including its Magic Towns, Huichol towns, local markets and coffee plantations.

The State of Nayarit will also be promoting the Las Islas Marías archipelago, which served as a prison until it closed in 2019, and is now open to the public with established tourist activities. The islands are also ideal for nature lovers: in 2010 they were designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve, a specially protected biodiverse region. Travelers can enjoy bird watching, diving, surfing, and snorkeling.

Other attractions that the Nayarit Secretary of Tourism will promote are: its hotel infrastructure, better connectivity with the expansion of the Tepic airport, the golf course designed by Lorena Ochoa and Greg Norman at Costa Canuva and the Mandarina ecological Polo Club.

The 2023 Gala Riviera Nayarit & Puerto Vallarta guarantees the commercialization of the close to 40,000 hotel rooms in the region, which translates into an economic benefit for both states, mainly with a view to the following winter high season.
