The ‘chocolate’ car regularization program has generated more than 2,600 million pesos, which will be used for paving roads.
The regularization of ‘chocolate’ vehicles will continue next year in the 141 modules installed in 14 entities of the country, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced this Thursday, December 29.
During the morning press conference, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, responsible for the program, offered a report on the project and pointed out that to date, more than one million 47 thousand used vehicles of foreign origin have been legalized in 14 states of the Republic.
“The efforts to regularize used vehicles from abroad will continue during 2023, from January 1 to March 31; the 141 modules established in 14 states of the Republic will continue to function for all those who have not yet benefited from this program”, indicated the official.
After the announcement, it is expected that before the end of this year the decree authorizing the program to continue for three more months will be published.
For the regularization of the so-called ‘chocolate cars’, resources of 2 thousand 600 million pesos have been obtained, which are being allocated to the paving and resurfacing of roads in the entities where the program is applied.
So far, the Federal Government has delivered 676.1 million pesos to seven states, which have already begun to pave streets and highways with these resources.

According to Rosa Icela Rodríguez, this program has contributed to improving the security, legality, and legal and patrimonial certainty of thousands of Mexican families.
How to regularize a chocolate car in Mexico?
The first step to regularize your chocolate car is through the generation of an appointment through the website of the Public Vehicular Registry (Repuve) that you can find at this link.
These are the documents you must have at hand to request your appointment:
- Unique code of the Population Registry (CURP).
- Vehicle identification number (NIV).
- Zip Code.
- Email.
- Telephone (landline or cell phone).
Requirements to regularize a chocolate car
Once the appointment has been made online, you must present yourself at the service modules with the following documentation:
- Document to prove the property of the vehicle (Property Title or Invoice).
- Printed image of the VIN (photograph).
- Official identification (current).
- Proof of address (no older than three months that corresponds to any of the federal entities benefited in the “Decree”).
- Manifesto under protest to tell the truth signed.
- Proof of payment of 2 thousand 500 pesos (multiple form of SAT payment).
- Printed proof of appointment from Repuve.
