15 more are in the construction phase and the rest are under study or about to begin development.

The third package of infrastructure projects, developed between the government and private initiative, is getting closer, the president of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador has announced. It is estimated that in total, the works add up to 70,000 million pesos.

The announcement will be made despite the fact that of the two previous packages, with a total of 68 buildings and an estimated investment of 525.976 million pesos, only one has been fully completed: the Siervo de la Nación Highway. As well as half of the AIFA connection works, that is, 2.2%.

The two works correspond to the first part of the strategy, released on October 5, 2020, and was made up of 38 works. Currently, 15 are under construction and three have been officially canceled.

Of the second package, announced on November 30, 2020 with 29 projects, none have been completed and six are in the construction phase. Between the two ads, 30% of the works are in this step.

The rest are in study phases, pre-investment, close to starting works, or information has not been updated in this regard. These include highways, ports, and power projects. Among the highlights are the Mexico Querétaro Interurban Train and the Suburban Train that will connect Lechería with the AIFA.

The packages have been an economic recovery strategy after the COVID-19 pandemic; “Everything is going to make us work together for that objective that the private sector promised the president almost two years ago to be able to promote that the country’s investment, public and private, reach 25% of GDP and that through that let’s take advantage of competitive advantages,” said Carlos Salazar Lomelí, former president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) in 2020.
