As in the rest of the world, the sale of new cars in Mexico registered a drop during the first three months of 2022.
According to information from the Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors -AMDA-, the Mexican automotive market sold 253,382 new vehicles from January to March 2022, which represents a decrease of 2.9 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
By manufacturers, the accumulated figure for the year maintained the same constant as in recent months, that is, Nissan and General Motors occupying the first two positions, while Volkswagen Group, Toyota and Kia monopolize the rest of the Top 10.
Where things did change was the ranking of the best-selling car brands. While Nissan and Chevrolet hold the top two spots, the surprise is that Toyota and Kia rank third and fourth, respectively, while Volkswagen slips to fifth place.

In the case of the best-selling models, there were also a series of changes in the Top 10 for the first quarter of 2022. On this occasion, the ten best-selling cars in the Mexican market accumulated 83,679 units, which means a coverage of 33 percent. percent of total light vehicles marketed in the first three months of 2022.
